Romania is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe.

It has borders with the Black Sea to the southeast, Bulgaria to the south, Ukraine to the north, Hungary to the west, Serbia to the southwest, and Moldova to the east. It has a predominantly temperate-continental climate. With a total area of 238,397 square kilometers (92,046 square miles), Romania is the 12th largest country and also the 7th most populous member state of the European Union, having almost 20 million inhabitants. Its capital and largest city is Bucharest, and other major urban areas include Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Iași, Constanța, Craiova, Brașov, and Galați.

Romania has participated in every single edition except FSC 104, when the both the head of delegation and second jury member withdrew.The decision to leave the contest was short lived, however, and the country returned in FSC 105 with fresh forces. The current jury of the Romanian delegation consists only of Gera11.

Romania has debuted back in the first edition held in Luxembourg City in Luxembourg, and scored a 10th place with the band Enigma. The first victory won't come for another eight editions. The country won for the first time in the 9th edition of the contest, in Berlin, Germany, with the song "Beautiful Lies" performed by Claudia Pavel.

The next ten years brought Romania diverse results and many jurors and changes. The head of delegation, Centrix, left the contest back in May 2016 and since then the numbers of jurors has been dwindling, until it reached just the number of one juror.

The second victory of Romania has been achieved on the stage of Gouda, The Netherlands in FSC 130 (December 2019), ending the ten years tenure of no victories thanks to Irina Rimes and her award-winning song "Nicaieri".

The current juror of Romania - Gera11 - joined the contest back in FSC 37 hosted in San Francisco, USA and has participated, as of FSC 131, for 79 editions. Mike completed the jury in FSC 136.
